Cusco is located in Southeastern Peru near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range at an elevation of 11,000 feet. The site was the historic capital of the Inca empire from the 13th century until the 16th century Spanish conquest. Cusco is a World Heritage site The city is a major tourist destination and the starting and ending point of my visit to the Sacred Valley and Machu Piccchu.
