Steens Mountain is located in a remote area in Southeast Oregon. The Steens is a 30-mile long fault block mountain featuring immense U-shaped gorges cut by ancient glaciers, interesting rock formations, and in fall an incredible color display put on by the many aspen trees that grow on the mountain. The event doesn't last long so proper timing is essential. In 2008 I missed it by one week! But this time, in 2010, Wow!
