Fall 2014 put on a very colorful display in the central part of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. I spent a month in mid-September through October day-hiking trails in the mountains above Bishop, CA hiking and photographing some of my favorite places and some new ones. I also backpacked part of the John Muir Trail. On this trip I and two other photographers, led by our guide, Ryan, from the Sierra Mountain Center, led us up and over Lamarck Col. We hiked down into Darwin Canyon where we encountered gale force winds on our first night. In spite of the windy weather we made it over to Evolution Basin, Evolution Lake, and Evolution Valley. We then hiked out along South Joaquin River Canyon, continued up and over Piute Pass hiking over freshly fallen snow and completing our journey where we started, at North Lake. Almost 40 miles. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite memories captured in this 19 minute video. Click the thumbnail below and turn up your sound level on your devise.
